Henry Iribe
A 3rd degree
purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has been training for close to 5 years.
At the age of 19, and 130lbs, jiu jitsu caught his interest after seeing it
effectively applied by smaller, less physical competitors in mixed martial
arts. He began his training his training in Des Moines Iowa at a Caique
affiliate during a vacation to the Midwest.
Upon moving back to San Diego, he resumed his normal life working long hours.
It was then he realized that jiu jitsu was his real passion, so he quit his job
and dedicated his time to learning the art.
Competing at least once a month and attending class 2-3 times a day, he really
began to see, not only his progress sparring with his teammates, but that he
was beginning to understand the principles behind everything taught. The
addiction had set in and now he was determined to pursue a life in jiu jitsu.
He has been training kids and teens for 3 years at a number of high profile
academies. He has also won numerous grappling competitions, including:
The 2010
American National Jiu Jitsu Championship at the purple belt level.
More
importantly, however, he has the enthusiasm – and patience needed – to teach
children’s jiu jitsu.
